KRAKATOA.ID, BANDARLAMPUNG - Lampung Province has many brands and speciality food products that can be used as souvenirs. These products are widely circulated in markets outside the region today. Even very few know that Shamiya's frozen fried banana comes from Bumi Ruwa Jurai. The use of names and branding seems to affect the image of the product itself. Many well-known brands found everywhere are often mistaken for products from outside Lampung because of their names. The owner of Shamiya, Mulyadi Alkahfi, admits that the frozen banana he started in 2016 is widely known outside Lampung, especially in Java such as Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Depok, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) and Bandung. "So there are Lampung residents who go out of town to relatives where they are served Shamiya fried bananas, so once they are served they consume them, they say they are delicious, but they don't know that they are from Lampung," said Mulyadi when met by Krakatoa, Tuesday (29/3/2022). Mulyadi admitted that due to the Covid-19 pandemic a few years ago, Shamiya became famous outside. Almost 80% of his micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) products are marketed by relying on the help of resellers from outside the region. "Around early 2020 we decided to market Shamiya to resellers, and most of them are from Jabodetabek and Bandung," he said. Lampung is one of the largest banana producing provinces in Indonesia. This is the reason why Mulyadi and his wife Nadya Kartika Putri started their business from this type of fruit. his wife is an alumnus of the University of Lampung, Faculty of Civil Engineering. "We produced Shamiya frozen fried bananas after we got a little knowledge from relatives, we moved to Lampung, because in Lampung the raw material for bananas is very abundant," he said.
Mulyadi wants the processed products of his business to be different from others, not just to provide added value by making chips. “In Lampung, bananas are mostly made into chips. "So at that time we tried to innovate after being taught, we tried making frozen fried bananas," said Mulyadi. According to Mulyadi, apart from being able to be eaten as a snack, because of the natural content in bananas in the form of fiber, folate, potassium and antioxidants, the processed product can be used as a souvenir. “Shamiya can be taken anywhere, can be consumed anywhere. "Consumers want to eat at any time, they can take it home, or as a souvenir for families outside the city they can bring it, then at home they just heat it up, warm it up, and they can enjoy it with their family," he said. As for the current flavor variants, continued Mulyadi, only two flavors are available, namely banana horns and banana kepok. Prices are also based on the type of banana and the unit weight. “Kepok medium size contains 30 small slices at a price of IDR 25 thousand. Kepok size large Rp. 45 thousand, contains 30 large slices. "Apart from that, 1 kg of premium Taduk is priced at IDR 75 thousand," he explained. Mulyadi emphasized that choosing the best quality banana raw materials is an important part of his business process. "We get raw materials from East Lampung, Metro, South Lampung, Pesawaran and sometimes from around Bandarmapung," he explained. Currently, he is grateful that his business can produce around 250 packs per day. “We can produce approximately 400 kg a day. "We can finish the raw materials for around 3 tons of bananas in a week, both kepok and horn bananas," he said. The owner of the Shamiya frozen banana MSME hopes to encourage other business actors to use banana raw materials as a typical processed product and can make Lampung proud. "With the abundance of bananas in Lampung, we hope that Shamiya's fried bananas will become a locomotive for us and our friends to be able to produce processed banana ingredients from fried bananas or whatever, we can increase sales and raise the name of Lampung as the largest banana producer." ” he concluded. Currently, this MSME, owned by husband and wife couple Mulyadi Alkahfi and Nadya Kartika Putri, employs 20 employees. Shamiya frozen fried bananas can be found at the official outlet on Jalan Pagar Alam No.73 Kedaton, Bandarlampung. Or you can order via number 081356421274 and DM Instagram @pisanggorengshamiya. "Because there is only one Shamiya fried banana in Lampung and it is delicious," said Nadia Syafira to Krakatoa, Tuesday (29/3/2022). "It tastes delicious, it's tasty, crispy, it lasts a long time, you can take it as a souvenir," said Desi Puspitasari.
